Welcome to the Black Parade是专辑The Black Parade的第五曲目，也是第一支发行单曲。英国NME杂志评价专辑The Black Parade：“这张专辑必将My Chemical Romance推向最伟大的摇滚乐队行列……能够像Nirvana的Nevermind以及Green Day的American Idiot一样，成为美国历史上最伟大摇滚专辑。”

Welcome To The Black Parade，06年9月11日在iTunes商店发行，10月9日以CD形式发行。单曲成了乐队的首支冠军单曲，在英国UK单曲榜上呆了两周，在美国现代摇滚榜上保持了7周冠军。在Billboard Hot 100榜单上取得了乐队迄今为止最好的第九名的成绩。在滚石杂志“06年最佳单曲”中排名17。

主唱Gerard Way接受iTunes采访时说：“这张专辑讲述了一个在医院中死去的病人的故事。在即将死去的那段日子，他极力的回顾自己的一生，总结自己所犯的错误。他印象最深的是小时候爸爸带他去参加一个游行的事情。因此，死亡来临的时候以black parade的形式。”歌迷猜测这个病人死于癌症，因为专辑中有一首歌曲叫做Cancer，而且在我们前几天发布的Welcome to the Black Parade的MV中，主唱Gerard Way将头发剪短并且漂成了白色，以此来比喻一个正在接受化疗的病人。

MV的导演是Samuel Bayer，多次执导Nirvana（如《Smells Like Teen Spirit》）和Green Day的MV。讲述的是一个将死的癌症患者（Lukas Haas饰）正被死亡带入黑色大道（Black Parade）。而乐队正在弹奏“Welcome to the Black Parade”。
